IDOR celebrates 80 years of H.I.M. and H.I.H.’s Coronation and 80 years of the modern day Ras Tafari Movement!!!!
On November 6, 2010, 6 years after the establishment of IDOR, IDOR gathers with the Ras Tafari family to celebrate an important milestone for the Ras Tafari community.
Howard University, an institution that honored H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I with the title of Doctor of Laws in 1954, is the location of this historic event. The event will focus on “Strengthening the Bridge to Africa”, and feature various Ras Tafari presenters who will discuss their works on the continent. At a time when many remain unsure about the validity of repatriation, IDOR forges ahead to ensure that it remains on the right side of prophecy and stays true to the original intent of Ras Tafari founding fathers.
On November 2, 1930, H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I and Her Imperial Highness (H.I.H) were crowned as King of Kings and Queen of Queens respectively in an ancient coronation ceremony in the mountain city of Addis Ababa. This event would literally reshape the world and serve as beacon of light for African descendants throughout the world.
All the recognized nations of the day sent their representatives to Ethiopia to behold the crowning of the 225th King in the line of Solomon and to pay homage to a man who had already become a international statesmen and lengendary figure in his native Ethiopia.
He had already succeeded in reforming Ethiopia’s government administration, having Ethiopia admitted to the League of Nations, sending hundreds of school children abroad to Europe to study, and unifying the warring factions of Ethiopia’s independent kingdoms. Not one to rest on past achievements, he broke with long standing tradition and demanded that the Church crown his Queen at the same time as H.I.M. She had been by his side since he was 19 and played a integral role in his many achievments. With this revolionary act he ensured that the first time of Europeans were exposed to African royality that they would behold the glory of both the black man and women!
Since that fateful day the people who chose to acknowledge the divine significance of the coronation and of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I continued to grow until the present day. The seed of the new revelation was carried on the winds from Ethiopia and landed first in the fruitful tropical island of Jamaica. From Jamaica the seed planted itself firmly in the soil and grew into a mighty tree that spread its branches first throughout the Caribbean and then to the rest of the world.
Now there are few countries if any on earth where Ras Tafari does not exist. Ras Tafari also bears the distinction of being one of the few faiths in the world that was not spread through violence or conquest. On the contrary Ras Tafari has spread through word, sound and power and has been picked up by the oppressed and downtrodden masses the world over.
On this 80th Anniversary of the revelation of the Coronation, IDOR encourages the Ras Tafari family to refocus itself on the central tasks of the Ras Tafari faith. 1) To follow the teachings and life example of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I and H.I.H. Empress Menen, 2) to prepare oneself and by extenstion ones community for the prophetic repatriation, 3) to maintain communication with the global Ras Tafari family so as to organize and centralize as commanded by InI I-vine father. This is our divine destiny!
Respectfully,
Kwasi Bonsu
