Elder’s Medical Project: In 2007 IDOR established the Elder’s Medical Emergency Project. The program was established in response to the urgent need of the pioneering elders living in Shashamane Ethiopia. Under the leadership of IDOR International Representative Ras Wayne Rose, IDOR created a fund to pay for the expenses of Emergency services for the Elders. The second phase of the project transitioned to the Elder’s Medical program. The focus shifted from simple emergency fund to providing comprehensive health care services to the selected Elders in Ethiopia. The Elder’s Medical program is now a dynamic program that provides health screening for Elder’s and provides a source of income for its Ethiopian care giver staff.
H.I.M. Study Group: In 2008, at the request of its president Ras I-Rice, IDOR established the His Imperial Majesty Study group. The aim of the group was to study the teachings of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I, through the Selected speeches made available to the public through the Ethiopian information ministry. In order to carry out this objective IDOR forged an historic relationship with the Pan-African bookstore Sankofa to provide the space for the reasoning. The study group also examines the passages in the Bible that relate to H.I.M. directly or Ethiopian history. Due to the regularity of the meeting IDOR study group also serves to faciliate discussion on other IDOR initiatives. H.I.M. EmperorHaile Selassie I study group remains the only regular meeting of Ras Tafari in the Washington D.C. metropolitian area.
Haiti Relief Effort: In response to the devastating earthquake that ravaged Haiti on January 12, 2010, IDOR has partnered with a number of other organizations to establish a Haitian relief project. This project aims to provide medical relief supplies as well as financial aid to selected organizations in Haiti. The project has prioritized working with programs that benefit Haiti’s must vunerable population, Haiti’s children.
HABESHA: HABESHA, Inc. is an environmentally-conscious organization that cultivates leadership in youth through practical experiences in Pan-African cultural education, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship, holistic health, and technology.
Revealer of the Light Newsletter: Since its creation in 2004 IDOR has released a yearly newsletter known as the revealer of light-named after the Newspaper founded by H.I.M. Emepror Haile Selassie I during his reign. The newsletter contains information on the life and example of H.I.M. Emperor Haile Selassie I and gives updates on community works as well as providing articles on the critical issues facing Ras Tafari people today.
